You can take a short evening city tour to see the nightlife in Kampala if you wish.

Two possible options to enjoy:

Option 1: Local Day in Kampala and at Lake Victoria

After an outdoor breakfast in the greenery of the Hotel, you will explore the sights of Kampala, Uganda’s Capital City. If you didn’t go yesterday, you will visit Buganda Road Craft Village to meet our supporting artist Elseed and do some shopping if you wish, perhaps visit the Gaddafi National Mosque where you can climb the tower and enjoy a panoramic view of Kampala, or the Uganda Museum or Kabaka’s Palace & Torture Chambers etc this morning. You will have lunch and spend the afternoon on the shore of Lake Victoria. In the evening, you can go to the Ndere Cultural Show, a 3 hour African dancing and drumming extravaganza with a BBQ meal.

Option 2: Equator Visit at Kayabwe ( approx 5 hrs total travel)

After a relaxing outdoor breakfast, you will head off to the site of the Uganda Equator, the imaginary line drawn on the earth’s surface that divides the Northern and Southern Hemisphere. It is the line of 0 degrees. Here you can balance with one foot in each hemisphere and watch water flow anticlockwise in the Northern Hemisphere and then clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere. You can also get a certificate at a small cost to show you have been here. You will have lunch here and return to Georgina Gardens Hotel for your evening meal and a good rest.

Day 4 – Jinja

You will set off for Jinja (about a 3 hour drive) after breakfast, stopping at the Ssezibwa Falls on the way. You will be ready for the ‘chicken stop’ at Najjembe (a real experience!) as we set off and drive through the beautiful Mabira Forest Reserve. If you are lucky, you might see some Colobus Monkeys on the way through.

In Jinja, we will see the Owen Falls hydro-electric dam and then head to the source of the River Nile. If you would like to, you can take a boat trip on the River Nile where you will see lots of beautiful birds and other wildlife. If you want to zip-wire across the river, go tubing or kayak, we can arrange this at an additional cost, depending on the wishes of the other people on tour.

You will have our evening meal and stay at the beautiful Source Garden Hotel, Jinja overnight.

Day 5: Busia

After a relaxed breakfast overlooking the river, you will set off for Busia (about a 2 ½ hour drive). Hopefully you will see some baboons on the way which we will stop and feed. You will arrive in plenty of time for lunch at the Step Up Family Organisation project in Sikuda, where the children will be there to greet you. Meet your sponsored child, spend time in the school and when you are tired, you can go to the Gold Star Resort in Busia for your evening meal and bed.

Day 6: Busia

After breakfast at the hotel, you will spend the day with your sponsored child, visiting their home if appropriate, tour ‘No Man’s Land’ between Busia and Kenya, our little barber shop, tour past the heavily guarded Chinese underground factory, the gold mining village at Tirra and have a traditional lunch of ‘local food’ in town. We will head back to Sikuda, pick up your sponsored child and some other children, and set off to the Coconut Beach Resort, Majanji, where there is a big swimming pool, right next to Lake Victoria. Enjoy playing with the children and spend some time at the shore, watching the sunset. You will eat here and then travel back to the hotel for a good night’s sleep.

Day 7: Busia

Today needs to be a restful day as tomorrow you have a long journey. After breakfast at the Hotel, you are welcome to join the children in Sikuda for fellowship, spend time with your sponsored child or rest a while at the Hotel. After lunch in Sikuda, you can enjoy a football match, do some art and crafts with the children, plant trees, paint a building or whatever project you would like to engage in. Evening meal will be back at the hotel.

Day 8: Nile Breeze Safari

Today you set off early (approx 6.30am) after a cup of tea & fruit for our safari. You are welcome to bring your sponsored child (if aged 8+) on this safari trip at a cost of £450. It’s a long journey (about 9 hours drive) but we will stop for breakfast, lunch & breathers wherever necessary.

You will reach the stunning Murchison Falls where you can stretch your legs and wonder at the power of the 140ft drop of water through a narrow 32ft gap in the rocks, from the White Nile to Lake Albert. You will then continue on the last leg to the 5 star eco-friendly Nile Breeze Bamboo Lodge where you can swim and relax. In the evening, you will have a sunset safari at Murchison Falls Game Reserve to see the animals as they wander to their watering holes.

Day 9: Nile Breeze Safari

You will be up early to see the animals at sunrise, as they are hunting and going for drinking water in the cool of the morning. Early morning is the best time for game viewing in Uganda. You may see hyena returning to their den, baboons playing in the sun, a herd of elephants coming to the river to drink, buffalo, Rothschild giraffe, Uganda kob, lions, leopards , crocodile, hippo and numerous birds including kingfishers, Goliath heron, Egyptian geese and pelicans.

You will return to the hotel for breakfast and relax until lunch. After lunch, you will go on a boat trip to see the hippos, then back to swim, relax around the fire and have your evening meal at the Nile Breeze Bamboo Lodge.

Day 11: Entebbe Airport

Breakfast will be at the hotel. After breakfast and packing, you can either go back into the city for a while, pick up any ordered pictures from Elseed etc or just stay and relax at the hotel until you head off to Entebbe for your journey home. Lunch will be in Entebbe then you will catch your plane home.
